Spouse Visa Extension FLR(M) | Kalsi Legal

Extending your partner visa

The second application is where people relax, and the Home Office does not. The rules are applied afresh: new income evidence, a relationship still subsisting, and no gaps in your permission. We treat the extension with the same care as the first visa, because it is the step that carries you to settlement.

The fee, the timescale and who does the work

£1,200 to £1,600 plus VAT.

Your exact fixed fee is confirmed on the free call and agreed in writing before any chargeable work starts. Home Office fees and the health surcharge are paid separately; see the Fees page for the full list.

Our fee covers taking your instructions, assessing eligibility, telling you what evidence is needed and reviewing it, preparing and drafting the application and any representations, submitting it, dealing with Home Office requests for information, and advising you on the decision.

Typical timescale. Usually 8 to 26 weeks; you keep your rights while a valid application in time is pending.

Who handles it. A named, Law Society accredited caseworker runs your matter from the first call to the decision, supervised by a solicitor who signs off the application.

Questions we hear every week

When can I apply?

Within the window before your permission expires; we confirm the exact date.

My partner changed jobs; is that a problem?

Not necessarily, but the evidence period changes and it needs working out.

Can I travel while I wait?

Usually not without risking the application; ask us first.
