Self-sponsorship

Your own UK company sponsoring you as its Skilled Worker. It is legal, it works, and it is demanding: the company needs a licence, a genuine role and a real business behind it, and the Home Office looks closely. Done properly it is one of the most flexible ways to build a life and a business here.

Is this you?

Founders and business owners, including overseas companies setting up a UK branch, who want to sponsor themselves or a senior team member.

What we do for you

  • Advise on structure: who holds the key personnel roles when the owner is the worker
  • Set up the company or UK branch with the evidence a licence needs
  • Apply for the licence
  • Assign the certificate and make the Skilled Worker application
  • Keep the business compliant afterwards

What we check before anything is submitted

  • That the business is real and trading or ready to trade
  • Key personnel who are not the sponsored worker
  • The role, its code and salary
  • Funding to pay the salary
  • Premises and HR systems

The fee, the timescale and who does the work

Quoted after the free call; typically the licence, certificate and visa package plus company set-up advice.

Your exact fixed fee is confirmed on the free call and agreed in writing before any chargeable work starts. Home Office fees and the health surcharge are paid separately; see the Fees page for the full list.

Our fee covers taking your instructions, assessing eligibility, telling you what evidence is needed and reviewing it, preparing and drafting the application and any representations, submitting it, dealing with Home Office requests for information, and advising you on the decision.

Typical timescale. Usually 3 to 4 months end to end.

Who handles it. A named, Law Society accredited caseworker runs your matter from the first call to the decision, supervised by a solicitor who signs off the application.

Questions we hear every week

Can I be the Authorising Officer?

Usually not if you are the sponsored worker; we structure around it.

Do I need staff?

Not necessarily, but the business must be genuine.

Is it cheaper than another route?

Not always; we compare on the call.
