Parent of a British Child Visa | Kalsi Legal

Parent visas

If your child is British or settled and you are not the partner of their other parent, there is a route for you. It turns on your relationship with your child, the care you share and the role you play, and the evidence has to show it.

Is this you?

Parents with sole responsibility for, or direct access to, a British or settled child living in the UK, who are not in a relationship with the child’s other parent.

What we do for you

  • Confirm whether the parent route or a human rights application fits better
  • Gather evidence of contact, care and involvement
  • Address finances and accommodation
  • Prepare representations about the child’s best interests
  • Submit and handle requests, and plan the route to settlement

What we check before anything is submitted

  • The child’s status and residence
  • Court orders and contact arrangements
  • Evidence of your involvement: school, health, daily care
  • Letters from the other parent, family and professionals
  • Your immigration history

The fee, the timescale and who does the work

£1,400 to £2,800 plus VAT, depending on whether representations on the child’s best interests are needed.

Your exact fixed fee is confirmed on the free call and agreed in writing before any chargeable work starts. Home Office fees and the health surcharge are paid separately; see the Fees page for the full list.

Our fee covers taking your instructions, assessing eligibility, telling you what evidence is needed and reviewing it, preparing and drafting the application and any representations, submitting it, dealing with Home Office requests for information, and advising you on the decision.

Typical timescale. In the UK usually 8 to 26 weeks.

Who handles it. A named, Law Society accredited caseworker runs your matter from the first call to the decision, supervised by a solicitor who signs off the application.
