Visas for children
Children are assessed one by one, on their own facts, and the rules ask more questions than most parents expect: who has parental responsibility, who the child lives with, and what happens to the parent who stays behind. We answer those questions before the Home Office asks them.
Is this you?
Children joining a parent who is British, settled, or in the UK on a partner, work or other route, whether they travel with the parent or join later.
What we do for you
- Confirm the correct route for each child
- Establish sole responsibility or the other parent’s consent where it is needed
- Prepare birth certificates, custody documents and translations
- Show maintenance and accommodation
- Submit and handle requests, then plan the child’s route to settlement alongside the parent’s
What we check before anything is submitted
- Birth and adoption documents
- Parental responsibility and custody orders
- Consent letters and evidence about the other parent
- Maintenance and accommodation for the whole household
- Schooling and care arrangements
- Any previous applications for the child
The fee, the timescale and who does the work
£1,000 to £1,400 plus VAT per child.
Your exact fixed fee is confirmed on the free call and agreed in writing before any chargeable work starts. Home Office fees and the health surcharge are paid separately; see the Fees page for the full list.
Our fee covers taking your instructions, assessing eligibility, telling you what evidence is needed and reviewing it, preparing and drafting the application and any representations, submitting it, dealing with Home Office requests for information, and advising you on the decision.
Typical timescale. Follows the parent’s route; from abroad usually 8 to 24 weeks.
Who handles it. A named, Law Society accredited caseworker runs your matter from the first call to the decision, supervised by a solicitor who signs off the application.
Questions we hear every week
Can my child come later than me?
Often yes, but the route and evidence differ.
The other parent will not consent; what now?
The application can still succeed in some cases, with strong evidence of sole responsibility.
Does each child need a separate application?
Yes, though we prepare them together.
Together, on time, first time.
