Judicial review

When there is no appeal and no review left, judicial review asks the court whether the Home Office acted lawfully. It is serious, solicitor-led and time-limited: claims must be brought promptly. We start with a pre-action letter, which settles many cases, and we only issue claims that can win.

Fixed fee: £900 to £1,400 + VATFirst step: a free 20-minute callYour case: one named caseworker, solicitor sign-off

Is this you?

Anyone with an unlawful Home Office decision and no other remedy: refused fresh claims, sponsor licence revocations, unlawful detention, delay, certification of claims, and administrative review outcomes.

What we do for you

  • Assess the merits honestly
  • Send a pre-action protocol letter
  • Advise on the response
  • Issue the claim in the Upper Tribunal or High Court with counsel where needed
  • Seek urgent relief if removal is imminent

What we check before anything is submitted

  • The decision and the law that governs it
  • Time limits
  • Alternative remedies
  • Costs risk, which we explain before you commit

The fee, the timescale and who does the work

Pre-action letter £900 to £1,400 plus VAT; a claim £4,000 to £8,000 plus VAT, staged; counsel’s and court fees separate.

Your exact fixed fee is confirmed on the free call and agreed in writing before any chargeable work starts. Home Office fees and the health surcharge are paid separately; see the Fees page for the full list.

Our fee covers taking your instructions, assessing eligibility, telling you what evidence is needed and reviewing it, preparing and drafting the application and any representations, submitting it, dealing with Home Office requests for information, and advising you on the decision.

Typical timescale. The pre-action letter within days; a claim usually months.

Who handles it. A named, Law Society accredited caseworker runs your matter from the first call to the decision, supervised by a solicitor who signs off the application.

Questions we hear every week

Will I have to pay the Home Office’s costs if I lose?

It is possible; we explain the risk before any claim is issued.

Is it worth just sending a letter?

Often yes; many decisions are withdrawn at that stage.

Can it stop my removal?

An urgent application can; call us the same day.
