Immigration bail
If someone you love has been detained, you need to act today, not next week. Bail can be granted by the Home Office or the Tribunal, and the application is won on grounds, sureties and a credible address. Detention cases often qualify for legal aid, so we check that first.
Is this you?
People held in immigration detention, and their families and friends trying to get them released.
What we do for you
- Check legal aid immediately and transfer to Kalsi Legal Aid where it applies
- Take instructions from the person detained
- Identify the grounds for release
- Prepare sureties and a bail address
- Lodge the application and represent at the hearing
- Advise on the underlying immigration case at the same time
What we check before anything is submitted
- Why they are detained and for how long
- The underlying case and any removal directions
- Health and vulnerability
- Sureties and the address
- Previous bail history
The fee, the timescale and who does the work
Privately £1,400 to £2,500 plus VAT.
Your exact fixed fee is confirmed on the free call and agreed in writing before any chargeable work starts. Home Office fees and the health surcharge are paid separately; see the Fees page for the full list.
Our fee covers taking your instructions, assessing eligibility, telling you what evidence is needed and reviewing it, preparing and drafting the application and any representations, submitting it, dealing with Home Office requests for information, and advising you on the decision.
Typical timescale. A hearing is usually listed within days of the application.
Who handles it. A named, Law Society accredited caseworker runs your matter from the first call to the decision, supervised by a solicitor who signs off the application.
Questions we hear every week
Can I be a surety?
Usually, if you are settled or British and can show your finances and address; we explain what it involves.
What if they are about to be removed?
Call us the same day.
How long can detention last?
There is no fixed limit, but it must be lawful and reasonable; we challenge it when it is not.
