Immigration appeals

If your human rights or protection claim was refused, you can usually appeal to an independent judge. You have days to lodge it, usually 14 in the UK and 28 from abroad, and the appeal is won on the bundle and the hearing. We prepare both.

Fixed fee: £1,800 to £2,800 + VATFirst step: a free 20-minute callYour case: one named caseworker, solicitor sign-off

Is this you?

People refused on human rights grounds (family visas, private life, long residence), on protection grounds, or under the EU Settlement Scheme, and anyone refused permission at the First-tier who needs the Upper Tribunal.

What we do for you

  • Lodge the appeal in time
  • Draft grounds
  • Prepare witness statements and gather evidence
  • Build the bundle and skeleton argument
  • Instruct counsel where the hearing needs it, or attend ourselves
  • Advise on the decision and on onward appeal to the Upper Tribunal where the law was got wrong

What we check before anything is submitted

  • The refusal and every reason given
  • Deadlines and whether the appeal is in time
  • Evidence available now that was not before
  • Witnesses
  • The strengths and the weak points, which we tell you about honestly

The fee, the timescale and who does the work

First-tier, paper £1,800 to £2,800; with a hearing £2,500 to £4,000; Upper Tribunal £3,000 to £5,000; all plus VAT. Counsel’s fees are separate, quoted in advance.

Your exact fixed fee is confirmed on the free call and agreed in writing before any chargeable work starts. Home Office fees and the health surcharge are paid separately; see the Fees page for the full list.

Our fee covers taking your instructions, assessing eligibility, telling you what evidence is needed and reviewing it, preparing and drafting the application and any representations, submitting it, dealing with Home Office requests for information, and advising you on the decision.

Typical timescale. Usually 6 to 12 months to a hearing.

Who handles it. A named, Law Society accredited caseworker runs your matter from the first call to the decision, supervised by a solicitor who signs off the application.

Questions we hear every week

Can I stay in the UK during the appeal?

If you appealed from inside the UK, usually yes.

Do I need a barrister?

For many hearings it helps; we advise and quote before instructing.

Can I submit new evidence?

Yes, at the First-tier, which is often where appeals are won.

The Home Office is not the last word. The Tribunal is.
